Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster carer with SSI. SSI Multicultural Foster Care operates in parts of metropolitan Sydney and the Hunter – Central Coast area. If you live in NSW outside of these areas, please contact My Forever Family for assistance.

Are you at least 21 years old? *

You must be at least 21 years old to be a foster carer with SSI.

Do you have a spare bedroom? *

To become a foster carer with SSI, you must be able to provide a private space for the child you look after. Foster children cannot share a bedroom with other family members.

Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident? *

Are you in good physical and emotional health? *

Many children who need foster care have experienced trauma and require a stable environment of close care and emotional support. If you are not in good health, you will unfortunately not be eligible to become a foster carer with SSI.

Does your household have the flexibility and time to meet the needs of a child? *

Besides long-term or permanent foster care, there are different types of foster care that may be suitable for you based on the time you can reasonably commit, including respite care, emergency or crisis care, or short-term care.

You can be single, married, or in a de-facto relationship to be a foster carer.

What does your family unit look like? *

This question refers to the number of children living in your house under 18 years of age.
